For 62 years, Waukesha was an independent supplier of gasoline engines, diesel engines, multifuel engines (gasoline/kerosene/ethanol), and LNG/propane engines to many truck, tractor, heavy equipment, automobile, boat, ship, and engine-generator manufacturers.
The E-Flex powertrain was designed to configure vehicles for battery electric, fuel cell-powered, or alternative energy sources for onboard electricity generation, including engine-generator sets (genset) powered by gasoline, diesel, biodiesel, ethanol fuel (E100), or flex-fuel (E85).
An all-welded underframe had a single driving cab at one end, and a long hood housing the engine-generator group and the auxiliary control equipment.
